Should I buy a catagory C repaired car?

Carolin Southers: In the USA, a category C car means that the cost of repairs were more than 100% of the value of the car. So if you have a $4500 transmission repair for a $4000 car, the owner may choose to trade it in and the car is a Catagory C. (Category D means the cost of repairs are more than 60% of the value of the car.)The problem is that insurance companies may not cover them for anything other than liability insurance, so if you crash it, no coverage. Check with your insurance company to be sure. With that said, if everything else is good, and the repairs have been made (very important!), then do your normal due diligence with the car before making a decision.Good luck!...Show more
