Is the the board game Castles of Burgundy very similar to Settlers of Catan?

Chris Coggins: I own and have both games and the answer is no. Both use dice but that is where the similarity ends. Read about Castles here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/84876/the-c...

Toshia Metzker: Though I haven't played Castles of Burgundy I have heard several reviews of it, especially from The Dice Tower Podcast. They really liked the game and they never mentioned the similarities to Settlers, so I'm guessing it's different enough that it can be enjoyed for completely different reasons. Also I agree with the previous answer that suggested checking out the Board Game Geek page for it. Not only will you find several video reviews in the "Videos" section of the page, in the Forums section you can click the Reviews tab and see all sorts of written reviews for the game too.The review written below is highly favorable for Castles of Burgundy, much like the other reviews I've heard. I think it's probably a very different game than Settlers, just from looking! at pictures of the board and components. Give it a try at the very least, some games are surprisingly more fun than the theme or instructions first make them appear....Show more
